We are excited to share we have two new partnerships.  We welcome Leighton Town and V24 to the Leighton Woodside family

Leighton Town FC and Leighton Woodside FC have put pen to paper to formalise a historic partnership

The central aim of which, is to build further on the excellent work carried out by both clubs in recent years in establishing positive pathways for young players in the town and the surrounding area. Director of Football at Leighton Town, Sean Downey explained: “We have been working really positively with Leighton Woodside for some time, especially at U18 level and it became clear to both clubs that we shared a similar vision and set of values on what high quality youth development looked like. Whilst both clubs are keen to see our youth teams experience success on the field, we are equally committed to individual player development and providing opportunities for boys and girls to progress to adult football once they graduate from youth football. Leighton Woodside have taken the lead in establishing a much needed women’s team which we fully support, and in time, will have a more direct role in helping to develop, whilst we have established our Development Team at Leighton Town this season, which along with our First Team, provides an excellent next step for many of the best U18 male players in the town” said Sean.
Leighton Woodside U18 manager, Gregan Quick said he and everyone at Leighton Woodside were “delighted that the partnership had been formalised and looked forward to working even more closely with our friends at Leighton Town FC. Both clubs will retain our separate identities and structures but are committed to working together on a range of projects designed to improve the football offer to both boys and girls in the local area” said
Greg.
The partnership was formally signed at the Leighton Town club Christmas Party in December and both c
lubs are excited by the opportunities the partnership can bring to football in the town.

V24 partnership with Leighton Woodside Football Club announced

We are absolutely delighted to announce that the V24 Football Academy is now a working partner of Leighton Woodside Football Club. The purpose of our partnership is to increase the pathway for young players to both additional coaching and club football.

Located in Leighton Buzzard, Woodside is one of the town’s oldest established teams founded in 1975. Since it was founded, the club has maintained its core values and principles where individual and team development is achieved through a combination of high coaching standards and the latest training techniques.

What does this mean?

For V24 players - A club ready to welcome players who have been attending V24 sessions and are looking for a team to join.

For Woodside players - Access to additional coaching with V24 to work on individual techniques.

V24 Statement

"We are extremely excited to be working with a club that cares so much about football in Leighton Buzzard. In the meetings and group chats we have been having over the last few months, it is so clear that Woodside and V24 both want the same thing: for everyone who wants to play football to have somewhere they can do that. We look forward to a long and successful partnership."

Leighton Woodside Statement

"We are thrilled to be entering into a long term partnership with V24. It is clear that we both have the same vision, energy and determination to provide opportunities for the youth of our community and by working together it is evident we can maximise this potential. We are therefore delighted to be part of this exciting new collaboration and are really looking forward to working with V24 Football Academy"

U18 REDS WIN COUNTY CUP

On Saturday 29th April Leighton Woodside U18 Reds won the county cup!

A special day in the clubs history, 20 years since winning the cup the Reds secured a 2-0 win against Shefford U18s. A solid performance with goals coming from Jack Sayell and Liam Milne (P). The club celebrated the day with the Woodside U12s who came as club mascots and the club would like to thank further the supporters who travelled to watch the final.

On Wednesday 10th May the team are playing in the league cup final at Kempston Rovers 19-45 KO, it would be great to see as many of you there!

WANDERERS U10s WIN SILVERWARE

Leighton Wanderers U10s competed in their first tournament with their newly re-formed team. They faced some tough opposition during the group stages meaning they finished in 3rd (1 point off 2nd place). This meant they were into the Plate Trophy playoffs. Their semi-final game ended in a draw, which then had to be decided on penalties. The Wanderers keeper made 2 fantastic saves and with some cracking penalties from the rest of the players, they were through to the finals !

Again tough opposition in the finals, meant that the match ended in a draw, and again a penalty shoot out.  With some good saves and accurate penalties from the team meant Wanderers came out champions of the Plate final!

For a group of boys that didn't know if they'd have a team to play for in summer last year to this, has been a fantastic achievement of all the hard work over the season.

Well done to all involved with the U10s Wanderers

U6s REACH CUP FINAL IN U7s TOURNAMENT

After finishing second in the group winning two and drawing two we progressed to the semifinals and won 2-1. The final finished goalless and sadly we lost on pens. Fantastic achievement to finish second playing up an age group and not losing in normal time in a game the whole day

U9 ROVERS COMPETE IN ESF TOURNAMENT IN BOGNOR REGIS

The players of the U9 Rovers team took on teams and academies from all over the UK.

Despite some very tough games, they got two wins and defeated in 2 games by a single goal.  They represented the Leighton Woodside family well and will be looking to return again in the future.  Emile Heskey presented the players with their trophies.

U14 GIRLS REACH LEAGUE PLATE FINAL

Congratulations to our U14 Girls who have reached the League Plate Final on Saturday the 20th May.  Kick off is at 2.30pm at Cranfield  Pavilion.  Be great to see as many of you there as possible to cheer them on.

A second Cup for Leighton Woodside Reds U18s

After winning the County Cup the squad went again in the League Cup Final against Houghton on Wednesday 10th May. Another solid performance from an incredible set of lads saw the team pick up the League Cup winning 2-0 against Houghton FC. We are now three performances away from becoming League Runners up, a tall order for a very tired set of players.

With 50 games played in 2 seasons, 80% win rate, 10% draw rate and a loss of 10% you can only admire the players commitment to Leighton Woodside FC.

A fantastic season for the LW Reds!
